LinkedIn Allows For Twitter Push: Don’t Do It.

You now have the ability to push all of your Twitter updates to LinkedIn. Bad move. I definitely do not recommend doing this. Are you active on LinkedIn? If not you should be. It is an amazing site that you can find all sorts of business contacts, start discussions, speak about what you do know, and learn from others about the things you don’t. However, that is the basis for LinkedIn, business. Twitter is wide open in its uses. With LinkedIn we update to tell about what is going on with us in a business aspect. The kind of interaction that goes on in Twitter, IMHO, has no place there.

If you were coming up to me and asked me how my business was going, and my reply was, ““A good friend is a connection to life—a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world.” what would you think? That is basically what would be happening if your tweets were pushed to LinkedIn. I’m not saying that your tweets are filled with somebody else’s quotes, but you get the picture.

The fact that we have the ability to link our social media application is fantastic, and can be incredibly helpful. I just happen to think that this one could be more of a hindrance.

I think it would be ok if it were a business related tweet. In fact the twitter settings in LinkedIn actually has the option to “Share only tweets that contain #in”.

So Is say turn it on just use that setting. Another plus for hash tags, eh?

It’s a good point, Rob. I just don’t think that a lot of people will realize the impact of what random tweets could do to your business profile.

I will agree that it is another plus for hashtags.
