Design is Life

Design in one of the most overlooked aspects of our lives. Everything we use, read, and watch has it’s beginnings in design. Our money has design elements that make it safer to use. Our clothes are designed to make a particular social statement. Companies spend billions designing logos and product packages to get our attention in a market swamped with competitors. Even politicians spend beau coups cash on logo and website design.

Design isn’t just about making stuff look good. Design is about functionality. Design is about eliciting an emotional response. Design is in every aspect of our lives. Design is about life.

I look at many aspects of design, from furniture and clothing, to print and web design. Currently I’m really into the retro 50′s and 60′s stuff, as I’m sure you could tell by my daily design at the top of every post. It’s a strange blend of Mad Men and Kitsch. Monday’s are design day for me. I hit my Google reader to pour over my favourite design blogs for the new weeks inspiration. Here are some of my favourites this week.
