jAVERDE Coffee Co Does Social Media, the Right Way
Yesterday I had the opportunity to sit down with @lrknight, founder of Entrepreneurs of Knoxville, and the guys from jAVERDE Coffee Co. We were there to brainstorm some ideas on how to expand our respective companies. Javerde is a eco-green business and have a great coffee product that is just waiting to explode out of it’s one shop in Knoxville. I felt honoured that they would include me in their quest for expansion. I knew that I followed them on Twitter (@jAVERDE_Coffee) so I went to check out how they were handling their Twitter presence. It was there that I saw the most beautiful tweet, ever.
To preface it a bit, there are immense opportunities out there to small businesses on social media platforms. The biggest problem is, most are doing it wrong. They don’t interact with their followers, and they push, push, push, their business. What it comes down to is they just don’t add any real value to the platform they are working. The consequences here are simple, people don’t listen. You might as well shout your tweets from the top of the Eiffel Tower. It will probably drive you about the same amount of business.
Javerde saw an opportunity and ran with it. They saw an undirected tweet and responded with kindness. See the examples below.
And the perfect reply?
Why is this so perfect? In my mind, jAVERDE has not only done something nice, something so very genuine, but they have elicited a positive emotional response in, not only @erin_joanne, but in anyone who read that one simple exchange. Simple interactions like this help build trust in the Javerde brand. This interaction drives sales. This is a perfect example of how a business should do social media.
So, if you happen to be in Knoxville TN, and need a perfect cup of pick-me-up, head over to the jAVERDE Coffee Co at 9518 Middlebrook Pike. These guys will hook you up with the best flavoured coffees, without those syrups that those “other guys” use. By the way, every cup you buy from them goes to help reforestation of America. So get a cup and plant a tree by proxy.
How did the brainstorm meeting go? Look for great things in both Anocial, and jAVERDE’s futures.
