Don’t Market. Solve Problems.
Everywhere I go, there are people. People at the grocery, people driving past me, people at home and at the park. People living out their lives, doing what they can to make their lives just a little bit easier. They are all facing challenges and solving problems on a daily basis. None of them cares one bit about my company, or yours. What they do care about is finding answers to life’s daily challenges.
Problems are handed to us in many different forms. Some people are overweight. Some need their business to generate more sales, while others have concentration problems. These problems create a nagging pain, if you will, that people simply want to go away, so that they can enjoy their life.
Business, is all about solutions. Simply telling people the your product is the best that ever was, just won’t float. They won’t believe you. Now if you give them a piece of why your product is what they need to solve their problem, that will pique their interest. The question is, how do we do that? There are a few questions we should be asking ourselves to help us decide.
- Who is your target audience? Many times those who you initially intend to sell to are not the ones you end up selling to.
- What are they trying to achieve? Simple. What is the goal for them?
- What are problems are they facing? What is standing in the way of them attaining that goal?
- What are they really buying from you? People aren’t buying just a product , but an idea, a solution to whatever obstacle is in their way.
Stop marketing to people and start solving their problems. Then reach them in ways that they understand and are comfortable with, be that YouTube, Email, Twitter, or any other range of platforms. If you get lucky, they will tell people they know about you. Now that’s marketing!
