Why WordPress is the Best CMS. My 5 Reasons.

The debate rages on. Which is the best CMS out there? All the platforms out there have very definitive pros and cons. There are plenty of Drupal fans out there, and for very good reasons. There are also fans of Expression Engine, and Joomla among others. They all have very good reasons for being fans of their engines. It just so happens that I am a fan of Woordpress. I use WordPress, and I set up the majority of my clients with WordPress. Here are a few reasons why, I believe WordPress to be the best all around platform out there.

  1. Plugins: Thousands of plugins are out there. Installation is easy, and so is (generally speaking) the configuration. What ever your need is, there is usually an array of choices for you to choose from.
  2. Theme Variety: Most people want their blogs to be original. WordPress offers tens of thousands of templates, both free and paid for, that you can choose from. One, two, and three columns, graphics options, color combinations, and a huge variety of options that will ensure that your blog not only suits you but is appealing to your readers.
  3. Auto Ping: Many CMSs offer this but plenty of free blogging hosts do not. This means that you must ping yourself after every post. WordPress does this for you, making life a bit easier and saving time.
  4. Trackbacks: No easier way to see who is reading and linking you, and WP will automatically “comment” on the blogs that you have linked.
  5. Simplicity: Easy to install and configure. Once you’re up and running, it is amazingly user friendly to update and post to. You don’t really need to know much about computers  to learn and use this particular CMS.

I’m sure that many of you have your favourite platforms, and I am not saying that WP is truly THE best. It’s just the best for me. What’s your favourite? Leave a comment and let’s discuss.

I couldn’t agree more, Brian. WP is, for most people, the most logical solution. My partner and I wrote our own CMS, and sell it…so I’m biased, and still think that WP is awesome. It’s certainly a better solution for the run-of-the-mill website than others like Joomla and Drupal.

Thanks Tony. Joomla and Drupal both have their place, but I do think that for beginner to intermediate lever bloggers WP is the way to go.
