WordPress, It’s Not Just For Blogging

You’ve heard me, and many others, talk about what a great platform WordPress is for blogging. For the very same reason I say you should use WordPress for your blog, I say it is a perfect platform to show off your artistic work. There is one more big reason to use WordPress for your portfolio too. Many artists choose flash based sites to show off their work, and have some really beautiful results. There is one big problem with a flash based website, Google can’t see it. Search engines are unable to properly crawl a flash based website, making the task of effectively doing SEO on your site that much more difficult. It’s like a good friend of mine once said: “Take a newspaper, put a blank piece of paper over it and then try to read it. That’s how it is for a search engine attempting to read your flash site.” With a WordPress based site for your portfolio, the search engines can more readily see and place your site accordingly.
