What to Write About When You’re Sick (And Tired)

I feel like hell. I have bronchitis, and my youngest daughter has been up and down all night throwing up. In fact, all five of my children have been passing around the sick all winter. My office sits in our house’s extra bedroom, meaning that while I am working, I wind up tandemly taking care of any and all sick kids. So I guess that I am now sick because I am worn out. I never though I’d hear the phrase, “I am sick and tired” come out of my mouth, yet here it is. I truly am sick and tired.

Nope, life certainly isn’t pretty all of the time. Life does, however, carry on no matter how unsightly it may be. This is true for our businesses as well, and it is true for this blog. Many of you out there have the luxury of  being able to call in sick to your work and take a paid sick day off. I do not. It is one of the downfalls of entrepreneurship. Sure you may say that since it is my own business that I can take the much needed break, but can I really? Maybe, but my mindset won’t let me.

Here is the crux of it all, what the heck do I write? I really don’t know. Should I even be expending the energy to write? After all, I do have a bad case of bronchitis. The rational answer is no, but my head, and my work ethic say yes. Entrepreneurs are not entirely rational people when it comes to their business. The world will not continue on it’s rotational axis if we don’t sell our product to at least one person today.

I have made the point, in an earlier post, that you need to have blogging schedule and stick to it, while others have come out with other very good points as to why you do need a schedule, but do not really need to expressly stick to it. My friend Dino Dogan (@Dino_Dogan) writes in his blog, DIY Blogger Net, that we write because we love it, and that a schedule is not really necessary. He makes very good points and I have another one. Schedule schmedule. I’m sick. It doesn’t mean I am any less passionate about my business, or my blog. My readers will, ultimately, survive the day of I don’t post on my scheduled day. Instead of writing about the value of WordPress, or how to drive more traffic to you blog through using Twitter, I’m gonna hang out on the couch with a bowl of soup and my Xbox. See you all next week.

Oh and thank you, for reading my post about why I’m not gonna post today :-)
